Last year, I sent Pixar a fan letter and I don’t know why I did it. :)) But I’m glad I did.
This is what I wrote on September 2011:
““Greetings to all the Pixar Staff and Crew! :)
My name is Mara Sy and I’m just a simple fan who’d like to tell you about how moved I am with your works (but I still hope you read my e-mail). I’m already 18 years old and I just watched Cars 2. I still anticipate every Pixar movie every year and make sure I arrive early at the cinema because of the short films. This is just a simple note of how thankful I am because of how Pixar revolutionized animated movies as not just entertainment but as an inspiration even for the older people.
I am sure that you probably get this a lot because of your many supporters but I still want to say that the movies and short films you have made brought out the little things in life that people have taken for granted. Not everyone realizes the life within the common objects we live with until Toy Story. It’s a wonder for me that Pixar made them so realistic and even pointed out that these things are actually a big part of our world. With this, Pixar not only made other objects matter but also opened man’s eyes that man is not the center of the universe.
Apart from giving common objects life, Pixar also never fails to incorporate valuable lessons that apply to all ages. Lessons that people also never usually see, lessons that move everyone’s hearts to a realization of becoming better persons, lessons that always make me cry in realizing how much the ability of people can change for the good.
Because of Pixar’s valuable works, I promised myself to buy DVDs of each movie shown and keep them not for myself but for my future children. I want them to witness the movies that I had in my childhood because I also want them to grow with the values and good hearts just like how Pixar took part in shaping who I am.
This may not be the most original letter you have ever read and may not also be written in its best form. But I hope I was able to show you my gratitude and sincerity. Again, thank you Pixar for being the best animated movie makers and being an inspiration to all races and ages. I hope you never stop finding the inner children inside all of you that many have forgotten to do. :)
P.S. I’m sorry if I sent this to the wrong e-mail address but I don’t know how else to contact you.
Warm Regards,
Mara Sy
Philippines”
AND THEY REPLIED TO ME ON APRIL 11, 2012:
“Hello Mara,
We received your email to our Studios and were hoping you would send us your mailing address so we can send you something in the post.
Best of luck with all or your creative endeavors,
Pixar Animation Studios”
I was screaming when I read this and immediately replied with my mailing address :))
AND TODAY ON MAY 3, 2012, I AM A HAPPY GIRL. Pixar made me love them more! They really did read my letter because they sent me a poster of Cars 2 with John Lasseter’s (director) signature. :)
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS. :)
four for you Disney Pixar. You go Disney Pixar.
